ERP shipping integration for parcel labels

CSV or API in. Four carriers out.

ERP shipping integration connects released sales orders to carrier labels and writes tracking and cost back. GoatLabels does it two ways without a connector project: a bulk CSV import of up to 500 rows, or a REST API your ERP calls at release time. It rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL per parcel and has no native ERP connector.

What are the ways to connect an ERP to parcel carriers?

There are four common routes to shipping software that integrates with ERP systems: the ERP's own shipping module, a marketplace connector to a shipping platform, an enterprise multi-carrier system, or a file and API handoff to a label service. GoatLabels is the fourth: no connector to install, four carriers from one account, and a prepaid ledger, but no native ERP app. The table sets the trade-offs side by side.

What is ERP shipping integration?

ERP shipping integration is the link that turns a released sales order in your ERP into a carrier label and returns the tracking number and shipping cost to the order. Without it, someone retypes addresses into a carrier website and pastes tracking numbers back by hand, which is slow at twenty parcels a day and unworkable at two hundred.

The link has three jobs: get the ship-to address, weights, and reference out of the ERP; choose a carrier and service and buy the label; and put tracking and cost back where customer service and finance can see them. Any ERP shipping software, from a native module to a file handoff, is a different way of doing those three jobs.

Can I ship ERP orders without installing a connector?

Yes. Export the orders that are ready to ship as a CSV file and import the file into GoatLabels, which accepts up to 500 rows per import and names the row and field of any error. One bad row does not fail the batch, so a missing postal code holds back a single order rather than the whole wave.

Most ERPs can produce that file from a saved search, a list view, or a report, and many can schedule it. This route needs no admin rights in the ERP beyond running an export, so you can start here while IT decides whether an ERP shipping label integration through the API is worth building.

How does an ERP buy labels through an API?

The ERP, or a script beside it, calls the GoatLabels REST API when an order is released: create the shipment, read the four carrier quotes, and buy the one your rule picks. The API has unlimited calls on every plan, live and test keys, and Idempotency-Key support, so a retried call after a timeout never buys a second label.

Tracking events come back on signed webhooks that can be replayed, and the OpenAPI 3.1 spec lets a developer generate a client instead of writing one. GoatLabels does not ship a packaged app for any ERP, so someone on your side owns the script or workflow that makes the calls.

How do shipping costs get back into the ERP?

Each label debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet and writes a dated ledger entry that carries the reference you sent, such as the sales order or customer number. Export the ledger, filter or join on that reference, and you have freight cost per order to post against the invoice or a cost center.

There is no separate carrier invoice to reconcile at month end, and a carrier re-weigh adjustment appears in the same ledger as its own line. GoatLabels does not write to your ERP automatically; the ledger export or the API is the source, and your import or script does the posting.

When is this the wrong ERP shipping integration?

It is the wrong choice if you need a certified, vendor-supported connector inside the ERP, your own negotiated carrier contracts, LTL or freight booking, enterprise SSO, or a contractual SLA, because GoatLabels offers none of those. It is parcel only, on USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and an international network.

Teams that ship pallets and parcels from one screen, or that are bound to a retailer's routing guide and carrier account, usually need a native module or an enterprise multi-carrier system. GoatLabels suits ERP parcel shipping: teams whose orders leave as parcels and who would rather pay for labels than fund an integration project.

Public API v1

An ERP that buys its own labels.

Your ERP already knows the ship-to, the cartons, and the weights. The REST API lets a workflow or script rate-shop and buy the label at release time, with unlimited calls on every plan, live and test keys, Idempotency-Key support, signed replayable webhooks, and rate-limit headers. The dashboard and the API spend the same prepaid wallet.

ERP shipping integration: FAQ

Does GoatLabels have a native connector for my ERP?
No. GoatLabels has no packaged app for NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics 365, Acumatica, Odoo, or any other ERP. Orders come in by bulk CSV import of up to 500 rows per file or through the REST API, which has unlimited calls on every plan.
Which carriers can my ERP orders ship with?
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, rate-shopped on every parcel from one account with one all-in number per carrier, plus an international network. Parcels ship from US and Singapore origins. You cannot add your own carrier accounts or negotiated rates.
How much does ERP shipping integration cost with GoatLabels?
The software is $0 a month on Free with 50 shipments a month, or $40 a month flat on Pro with unlimited shipments and cheaper label rates. The API and CSV import are on both plans. Labels are paid from a prepaid wallet, and there is no contract.
Can tracking numbers flow back to the sales order?
Yes, through your own integration. Tracking is returned by the API when the label is bought and on signed webhooks as the parcel moves. GoatLabels does not write into your ERP directly, so a script, workflow, or import on your side posts the tracking number to the order.
Does it handle LTL or pallet shipments from the ERP?
No. GoatLabels is parcel only and does not quote, book, or document LTL or freight. Keep your freight tool for pallets; parcel cartons from the same order can still be labeled through the CSV import or the API.
Can I talk to someone about my ERP setup first?
Yes. Email contact@goatlabels.io with your ERP, your monthly parcel volume, and a sample order export if you have one. We check the file against the bulk importer, price the parcels across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, and show the API and the ledger. There is nothing to sign.
