Business Central shipping software has to print the carrier label, because Microsoft's shipping agent documentation describes a tracking link, not label printing. GoatLabels takes your sales orders as a CSV saved from an Excel export, or through its REST API, and rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL per parcel. Free is $0 a month; Pro is $40 flat. It is not a Business Central extension.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted side by side on each parcel from a Business Central sales order, with no carrier contracts to open.
Each label debits a prepaid wallet and writes a dated ledger line that carries your Business Central order number.
A Business Central shipping integration can take four realistic routes: rely on shipping agents and buy labels on carrier sites, install a shipping extension from the Microsoft marketplace, fund an enterprise multi-carrier system, or hand orders to a label service by file or API. GoatLabels is the last route. It needs no extension and no carrier accounts, and it does not write back into Business Central by itself.

Microsoft's documentation on shipping in Business Central describes shipping agents and package tracking, not label printing. You set up each shipping agent with a code and the services it provides, and you can open the agent's package tracking service from posted sales shipments and posted sales invoices.
The tracking number is typed in by a person. You enter the Package Tracking No. you received from the carrier, then choose Track Package to follow the delivery. That leaves the label itself to something else: a carrier website, a marketplace extension, or a label service such as GoatLabels that receives the order data and buys the label.
Export the sales order list with Open in Excel, save the sheet as CSV, and import it into GoatLabels. Business Central list pages such as sales orders and invoices can be opened in Excel, and the bulk importer accepts up to 500 rows per file.
Put the order number in the reference column so it travels to the label and the ledger. If a row has a bad postal code or a missing weight, the importer names the row and the field and still processes the other rows. Nothing is installed in Business Central for this, so a shipping lead can pilot it on one afternoon's orders.
Yes, with a small service of your own between the two systems. Business Central API v2.0 supports webhook subscriptions, which a subscriber registers through a handshake, so your service can hear about changes and then call the GoatLabels REST API to quote and buy a label.
On the GoatLabels side the API has unlimited calls on every plan, test keys for a sandbox run, and Idempotency-Key support so a retry does not buy a second label. Tracking events return on signed webhooks that can be replayed. GoatLabels does not publish a Business Central app, so your developer or partner owns that middle service.
Every label writes a dated ledger line with the amount and the reference you supplied, so using the sales order number as the reference gives you freight cost per order. Export the ledger and match it to orders in Excel or load it through your own import.
Labels are paid from a prepaid wallet, so there is one ledger rather than a separate invoice from each carrier. If a carrier re-weighs a parcel, the adjustment posts to the same ledger. An order packed in three cartons produces three labels and three lines under one reference. Posting those amounts into Business Central remains your step.
It is the wrong fit if you want labels printed from inside the Business Central sales order page, because GoatLabels is a separate web app and API, not an extension. A marketplace shipping extension is the better route for that.
It is also wrong if you must ship on your own negotiated carrier contracts, book LTL or freight, print retailer compliance labels, or require SSO or a contractual SLA. GoatLabels offers none of those. It suits Business Central teams that ship parcels, want four carriers quoted without opening accounts, and are content with a file or API handoff.

Business Central API v2.0 can notify a subscriber when records change. A small service on your side can take that event and call the GoatLabels REST API to quote four carriers and buy the label. Calls are unlimited on every plan, with live and test keys, Idempotency-Key support, signed replayable webhooks, and rate-limit headers.
