Dynamics 365 Supply Chain shipping software for parcels does not have to start with a rate engine build. GoatLabels takes released orders by CSV import of up to 500 rows or by REST API, rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL on each parcel, and costs $0 on Free or $40 a month on Pro. It has no native Dynamics 365 connector and does not write back automatically.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted side by side on the parcels your warehouse releases, from one account with no carrier API work.
Each label debits the quoted amount to a dated ledger entry that carries the sales order number you sent.
Supply Chain Management includes a small parcel shipping feature, but Microsoft describes it as a framework that needs a rate engine your organization develops. The other routes to Dynamics 365 Supply Chain parcel labels are a carrier hub service behind that engine, an enterprise multi-carrier system, or a file and API handoff to a label service. GoatLabels is the fourth. The table shows what each route asks of you.

| GoatLabels | Native small parcel shipping (SPS) | Carrier hub behind a rate engine | Enterprise multi-carrier system | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What you build first | Nothing in Dynamics 365. Use a data export for CSV, or a small script that calls the REST API. | A dedicated rate engine. Microsoft says your organization must develop it with your carrier or carrier hub service. | The same rate engine, pointed at the hub's API instead of one carrier. | An implementation project scoped by the vendor or a partner. |
| Carrier accounts | None to set up. Labels are bought on GoatLabels' accounts; your negotiated rates cannot be imported. | Your own. The feature communicates with carriers through their APIs. | Depends on the hub service. Check its terms. | Your own carrier contracts. |
| Rate on the sales order | Not automatic. The cost sits in a ledger by order reference; your import or script posts it. | The returned rate is added to the sales order as a miscellaneous charge. | Same as SPS, since the engine returns the rate to Supply Chain Management. | Depends on the integration that is built. |
| Label printing | From the dashboard, or automatically through PrintNode. | The returned label can print automatically on a ZPL (Zebra) printer. | Same as SPS: the label comes back through the rate engine. | Not stated here. Ask the vendor. |
| Price and commitment | Free $0 a month with 50 shipments, or Pro $40 a month flat with unlimited shipments. No contract. | Part of Supply Chain Management, plus the cost of developing and maintaining the engine. | Hub fees plus the engine development. Not stated on Microsoft's page. | Quoted by the vendor's sales team. |

Yes, Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management has a small parcel shipping (SPS) feature, but it is a framework and not a finished carrier connection. Microsoft says it lets the system interact directly with shipping carriers by providing a framework for communication through carrier APIs.
The work sits in a dedicated rate engine. Microsoft's documentation states that your organization must develop this rate engine in collaboration with your carrier or carrier hub service. Once it exists, the returned rate is added to the sales order as a miscellaneous charge and the label can print automatically on a ZPL printer.
Yes. D365 SCM shipping labels do not need the rate engine: export the released orders with your usual data export, save the result as a CSV file, and import it into GoatLabels, which accepts up to 500 rows per file. Each row is quoted on USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL with one all-in number per carrier, and you buy the label you want.
If a row has a bad postal code or a missing weight, the importer names the row and the field, and the other rows still go through. Nothing is installed in Supply Chain Management, so a warehouse lead can run this route while the question of a rate engine stays open with IT.
A small service on your side listens for a change in Dynamics 365 and calls the GoatLabels REST API to quote and buy the label. Microsoft documents that entities enabled for OData can emit data events for create, update, and delete through the business events framework, which gives that service its trigger.
The API has unlimited calls on every plan, live and test keys, and Idempotency-Key support, so a retried request does not buy a second label. Tracking updates arrive on signed webhooks that can be replayed. GoatLabels provides no packaged Dynamics 365 SCM carrier integration, so your developers own the service and the field mapping.
They get back through your own import or script, because GoatLabels does not write into Dynamics 365. Every label debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet and creates a dated ledger entry that carries the reference you sent, such as the sales order or shipment number.
Export the ledger, match on that reference, and post the amount as a charge using the data import you already use. A multi-carton order produces one ledger line per label, all with the same reference, and a carrier re-weigh adjustment posts to the same ledger as its own line, so finance sees the final cost per order.
It is the wrong fit when Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management shipping must run natively on your own carrier contracts, with the rate posted to the order automatically. GoatLabels cannot use your negotiated rates, has no native connector, and does not offer LTL, freight, SSO, an SLA, or retailer compliance labels.
In that case the native SPS framework with a rate engine, or an enterprise multi-carrier system, is the better project. GoatLabels suits a parcel lane that does not justify that build: a spare parts desk, a sample room, a returns bench, or one site that ships cartons while the rest of the business moves pallets.

Let a small service react to the order change you choose, then quote and buy through the REST API. Calls are unlimited on every plan, with live and test keys, Idempotency-Key support, signed replayable webhooks, rate-limit headers, and an OpenAPI 3.1 spec. The dashboard and the API draw on the same prepaid wallet.
