Corporate mailroom shipping software buys carrier labels for the parcels an office sends and records which department pays. GoatLabels rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL on every parcel from one account and writes your cost center to a ledger. Free is $0 a month for 50 shipments; Pro is $40 flat. It covers outbound parcels only: no postage meters, letter mail, or inbound package tracking.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted together on each outbound parcel, from one account with no carrier contracts for the office to open.
Each label debits the quoted amount to a dated ledger entry that carries the cost center or project code you typed as the reference.
An office that sends parcels for many departments usually picks between a label service, a small-business shipping plan from a mailing vendor, an enterprise mailing and shipping suite, or carrier websites by hand. GoatLabels is the first: four carriers from one account and a ledger keyed to your cost center, but parcels only. The table shows the trade-offs.

Corporate mailroom shipping software is the tool an office uses to buy carrier labels for outbound parcels and record which department each one was for. It replaces the habit of logging in to a different carrier website for every box and sorting out the charges from several invoices at month end.
The mailroom's version of the job is different from a warehouse's. Volumes are modest and uneven, the senders are colleagues rather than an order system, and the question finance asks is who pays. Useful software therefore does three things: compares carriers on each parcel, prints the label at the desk, and keeps a record with a department code on every line.
Put the cost center or project code in the reference field when you buy the label. GoatLabels is shipping software with cost centers carried on the label: it debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet and writes a dated ledger entry that carries that reference, so every parcel already has its department attached when finance asks for the month's shipping.
Export the ledger and total it by reference to get a figure per cost center. A carrier re-weigh adjustment posts to the same ledger as its own line, so corrections are visible too. The wallet is one shared balance: GoatLabels has no sub-accounts or per-department budgets, and it does not write into your accounting system, so the journal entry is yours to post.
No, they do different jobs. A postage meter prints postage for letters and flats, while shipping software buys a carrier label with tracking for a parcel. An office that sends both envelopes and boxes normally needs something for each, and GoatLabels covers only the parcel side.
GoatLabels does not sell or lease meters, does not print letter postage, and does not sort or track mail. If most of what leaves your mailroom is envelopes, keep the meter or mailing service you have. If the growing share is boxes for sales, HR, IT, and marketing, a parcel label service is the postage meter alternative for parcels: it handles those boxes with a carrier comparison the meter was never built for.
Collect requests in one place and let the mail desk buy the labels. For single parcels, staff can paste the request email into the in-app assistant, which drafts the label for review. For a batch, such as laptops to new hires or kits for an event, import a CSV of up to 500 rows with the cost center in the reference column.
The importer names the row and field of any error, and one bad address does not stop the other rows. Labels can print automatically through PrintNode to the printer at the desk. A shipment with several cartons produces one label per carton, each a ledger line with the same reference, so a five-box send still totals under one department code.
It is the wrong fit if you need postage meters, letter and flat mail, inbound package receiving and tracking, or parcel lockers, because GoatLabels does none of those. It also has no SSO, no sub-accounts or per-department balances, no phone support, no SLA, and no way to use your own carrier accounts or negotiated rates.
Large campuses that run mail, inbound receiving, and outbound shipping in one system, or that must ship on a corporate carrier contract, are better served by an enterprise mailing and shipping suite. As office shipping software, GoatLabels suits a company where one small team sends parcels for everyone and finance wants a clean list of cost by department without a procurement project.

If your office already has a ticketing or intranet form for shipping requests, a developer can connect it to the REST API so an approved request rate-shops and buys the label with the cost center attached. Calls are unlimited on every plan, with live and test keys, Idempotency-Key support, and signed replayable webhooks. The dashboard and the API spend the same prepaid wallet.

Free is $0 a month with 50 shipments a month. Pro is $40 a month flat with unlimited shipments and cheaper label rates. Bulk CSV, 13 connectors, and the REST API come with both, and labels are paid from a prepaid wallet.
