Commercial printer shipping software buys carrier labels for finished print jobs and ties the cost to the job. GoatLabels rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL on every carton, carries your job number onto the ledger, and splits a run across client locations from a CSV. Free is $0 a month, Pro is $40 flat. It has no print MIS connector and is parcel only.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted together on each carton of finished print, from one account with no carrier contracts to set up.
Every label debits the quoted amount to a dated ledger entry that carries the job number you sent as the reference.
Printers usually pick from four routes: carrier websites and their free tools, a subscription shipping platform, an enterprise multi-carrier or freight system, or a label service fed by a file. GoatLabels is the last kind: four carriers from one account, the job number on every ledger line, and CSV split shipments, but no print MIS connector and no freight. The table sets out the trade-offs.

Commercial printer shipping software turns a finished print job into carrier labels and records what each shipment cost against that job. A print shop ships business cards, brochures, signage, and packaging runs to business customers, and every one of those leaves the bindery as one or more cartons that need an address, a weight, a carrier, and a label.
Shipping software for printing companies has three jobs. It takes the ship-to details and carton weights for the job, it compares carriers and buys the label, and it keeps a record that ties the shipping charge to the job number so the estimator and the invoice agree. GoatLabels does this for parcels on USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL from one account, on a Free plan at $0 a month or Pro at $40 a month flat.
Print shops ship heavy cartons of paper by keeping each carton inside parcel limits and comparing carriers on every one, because paper is dense and weight drives the price. USPS Priority Mail accepts packages up to 70 lb and 108 inches in combined length and girth. UPS applies Additional Handling when a package weighs more than 50 lb, or its longest side exceeds 48 inches, or its second-longest side exceeds 30 inches.
In practice that means a full case of brochures may cost less as two lighter cartons than as one heavy one, so compare the quotes, and long signage boxes need a quote before they are packed. GoatLabels quotes USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL on each carton with one all-in number per carrier, so the packer sees the difference before buying. A multi-carton job produces several labels under the same job number.
Put the job number in the label reference, and the shipping cost lands on the job. In GoatLabels every label debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet and writes a dated ledger entry that carries the reference you sent. Use the job or docket number, and each carton of that job becomes its own ledger line with the same number.
At invoice time, export the ledger and filter or total by job number to get the shipping charge for that job, including any carrier re-weigh adjustment, which posts to the same ledger as its own line. There is no separate carrier invoice to match at month end. GoatLabels does not write the figure into your MIS or accounting system; someone keys it in or imports the export.
Build a CSV with one row per destination and import it. GoatLabels accepts up to 500 rows per file, so a brochure run going to forty branch offices or a signage rollout to two hundred stores is one import, with the job number repeated in the reference column of every row so all the print job shipping labels roll up to the same job.
The client usually sends the location list as a spreadsheet already, so the work is adding weights and the job number and saving it as CSV. If a row has a problem, the error names the row and the field, and one bad row does not fail the batch, so a missing postal code holds back one location while the rest are labeled. PrintNode auto-print can send the labels to the packing bench printer.
It is the wrong choice if you need a packaged connector to your print MIS or web-to-print system, your own negotiated carrier rates, or freight booking, because GoatLabels offers none of those. Web-to-print shipping labels follow the same path: orders from an MIS or a web-to-print storefront reach GoatLabels as a CSV export or through the REST API, and someone on your side owns that export or script.
It is also parcel only. Pallets of catalogs, skids of packaging, and other runs too large for cartons go by LTL or freight, which GoatLabels does not quote, book, or document. Printers whose volume is mostly palletized, or who must ship on a client's carrier account, are better served by a freight tool or an enterprise multi-carrier system. GoatLabels fits the carton work beside it.

If your print MIS or web-to-print system can run a script or call a URL when a job is marked complete, the REST API can rate-shop and buy the labels with the job number attached. Calls are unlimited on every plan, with live and test keys, Idempotency-Key support, signed replayable webhooks, and an OpenAPI 3.1 spec. There is no packaged MIS connector; your team owns the script.
