GoatLabels is a ShipHero alternative only for the label step: it rate-shops USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL on every parcel and buys the label, for $0 a month on Free or $40 a month flat on Pro. It is not a warehouse management system, so it has no inventory, picking, or client billing. Choose it when labels and rate shopping are all you need.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted together on each parcel from one account, with no warehouse system to implement first.
Labels are paid from a prepaid wallet, and every label writes a dated ledger entry that carries your order reference.
ShipHero describes itself as a warehouse management system, and rate shopping is one part of it. If you only need the label, there are three other routes: a label service such as GoatLabels, a subscription shipping platform, or an enterprise multi-carrier system. The ShipHero column uses only what its public pages stated on 2026-10-06. The other two columns describe product categories, not named vendors.

As a ShipHero alternative for shipping labels, GoatLabels replaces only the label and rate shopping step, not the warehouse management that ShipHero is built around. ShipHero describes itself as a warehouse management system. GoatLabels has no inventory counts, bin locations, pick lists, packing workflow, returns processing, or client billing, and it does not plan to act like a WMS.
That makes the comparison narrow on purpose. If your shortlist started with a WMS because you wanted rate shopping and a choice of carrier on each parcel, a label service covers that need at a much smaller scope. If you need to know where stock sits and who picked it, you are shopping for a WMS, and GoatLabels is not one.
Yes. Rate shopping without a WMS only needs a ship-from address, a ship-to address, and the weight and dimensions of the parcel, so it does not depend on warehouse software. GoatLabels quotes USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL on every parcel from one account and shows one all-in number per carrier, then buys the label you choose.
Orders arrive from one of 13 store connectors, from a bulk CSV import of up to 500 rows per file, or through the REST API. You can keep stock in a spreadsheet, an ERP, or an inventory app and use GoatLabels only for the last step. In that case shipping software without a WMS is enough, and a full warehouse system adds setup and training that the label step does not require.
Yes, as a file or API handoff, because GoatLabels has no native connector for ShipHero or any other WMS. Export the orders that are packed and ready as a CSV file and import it, or have a script call the REST API when a carton is closed. Tracking comes back in the API response and on signed webhooks.
ShipHero's help center says data from almost any page can be exported, and its developer documentation describes a GraphQL API with webhooks, so both routes look possible from its side. Someone on your team owns the export or the script. GoatLabels does not write tracking numbers back into a WMS for you.
Every label debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet and writes a dated ledger entry that carries the reference you sent, such as an order number or customer code. Export the ledger and group by that reference to get parcel cost per order, per customer, or per channel. Carrier re-weigh adjustments post to the same ledger as their own lines.
A multi-carton order produces several labels, each a ledger line with the same reference, so the order total is a simple sum. There are no sub-accounts or per-client balances, which matters to a 3PL: you can report cost by client reference, but you cannot hold a separate wallet for each client or bill them from GoatLabels.
It is the wrong choice whenever you need warehouse management, because GoatLabels has no inventory, receiving, picking, packing stations, cycle counts, or 3PL client billing. It also cannot use your own carrier accounts or negotiated rates, and it does not handle LTL, freight, retailer compliance labels, or EDI documents.
There is no phone support, SLA, SSO, or dedicated account manager; support is email plus an in-app assistant. A fulfillment operation with several clients, many pickers, and stock to control should keep or buy a WMS. GoatLabels fits the team whose real requirement was four carriers compared on each parcel and a clean record of what each label cost.

If a warehouse system or a script already knows what is in the carton, the REST API can rate-shop and buy the label when the carton closes. Calls are unlimited on every plan, with live and test keys, Idempotency-Key support, signed replayable webhooks, and rate-limit headers. There are no SDKs; the OpenAPI 3.1 spec is the contract.
