FedEx will raise US package list rates by an average of 5.9% on January 4, 2027, its fourth year in a row at that figure, with several surcharges rising faster. UPS had not announced its 2027 increase as of September 26, 2026; its 2026 increase was also 5.9% on average.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted live on the same parcel, so a carrier that rose faster on your lane shows up as a price gap, not a surprise on an invoice.
Each label debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet as a dated ledger entry with your reference, so the 2027 change is visible label by label.

FedEx list rates rise 5.9% on average on January 4, 2027, across US, US export, and US import package services. It is the fourth year in a row FedEx has set the same average. The increase also reaches FedEx Ground Economy, Ground Multiweight, International Premium, International Priority DirectDistribution, and the minimum charges on US and international package services, which raises the floor on the lightest, lowest-cost parcels. FedEx publishes the full detail on its Shipping Rate Changes page at fedex.com; the figures here were checked against it and against trade-press coverage on 2026-09-26.
No. As of 2026-09-26, UPS had not published a 2027 general rate increase. The only UPS baseline we can source is last year's: UPS raised rates 5.9% on average for ground, air, and international services from December 22, 2025, announced in early November 2025 (Supply Chain Dive, 2025-11-03). Carriers do not have to match each other, so do not budget UPS at FedEx's number until UPS says so. This page gets a new date when it does.

Because 5.9% is an average of list rates, and nobody ships the average. Your bill is a mix of services, zones, package sizes, and surcharges, and in 2027 several of those move faster than the headline. One analysis of FedEx's tables, reported by Logistics Management on September 22, 2026, found five of seven major services above 5.9%, with Ground services at about 6.06% to 6.15% across zones. Surcharges rise faster again: the Extended Delivery Area Surcharge by about 9.09%, extended ground delivery area charges by about 8.11%, and Additional Handling and Oversize by fixed amounts in every zone. A shipper heavy in rural residential ground parcels, or in large boxes that trip Additional Handling, will feel more than the average. A shipper of small parcels to nearby zones may feel close to it.
Two costs sit outside the rate table entirely. From January 18, 2027, a shipment with a paper trade document carries a $25 fee and a manual paper air waybill carries $5. And from February 1, 2027, FedEx reclassifies zones for select US ZIP-code pairs, which can move a lane into a more expensive zone with no change to the rate card at all. The affected pairs had not been published when this page was checked. If you want the mechanics of how zone, billable weight, and surcharges combine, read how shipping rates are calculated and shipping surcharges, explained.
The FedEx changes land in three waves, and the UPS date is still open:
Price your real shipments now, on more than one carrier, and keep the file so you can re-run it once the 2027 prices are live. A rate increase is a mix problem, so the only useful forecast is your own last month:
Want a second pair of eyes on the file? Bring last month's shipment CSV and we will rate-shop it across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL with you, then you can re-run the same file once 2027 rates go live.
Yes, because GoatLabels does not set carrier prices: quotes are live, so when a carrier's 2027 prices take effect, they show up in the quote that day. What changes is how you see the increase. Every parcel is rate-shopped across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL from one account, each carrier comes back as one all-in number, and that number is exactly what debits your prepaid wallet as a dated ledger entry with your reference. Re-weighs arrive as their own adjustment records instead of a line buried in a month-end invoice. Orders come in by bulk CSV (up to 500 rows a batch, with errors named by row and field), 13 store connectors, or a REST API with unlimited calls on every plan. The Free plan is $0 a month for 50 shipments; Pro is a flat $40 a month for unlimited shipments and cheaper label rates. There is no contract.
When your advantage is a negotiated contract. GoatLabels cannot import your FedEx or UPS rates and has no bring-your-own carrier account option, so if your contract beats our quotes on a side-by-side check of your real shipments, keep it. It is also the wrong tool if you need SSO, an SLA, sub-accounts per client, a dedicated account manager, or LTL and freight alongside parcel: none of those exist today. Support is email plus the in-app assistant. For teams that fit (a 3PL shipping for several clients, a multi-channel brand shipping at high volume without a subscription, or a developer team using the shipping API), four carriers on every parcel is the most direct way to route around whichever carrier rose most on your lanes. Plan pricing is on the pricing page, and more guides are on the blog.
The same parcel quoted across carriers at once, each column one all-in number that is the exact amount leaving your prepaid balance. When 2027 prices take effect, they appear here on the day they apply. Figures are illustrative, not 2027 rates.
