Parcel spend management is controlling what you pay carriers across the life of a shipment: picking the rate, recording the cost, and catching corrections after delivery. GoatLabels does it at label time, quoting USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL side by side and debiting each label from a prepaid wallet to a dated ledger entry carrying your reference.
USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL quoted together from one account, one all-in number each, from US and Singapore origins.
Every label debits the quoted amount to a dated ledger entry that carries your reference.
You need an audit platform if you ship on your own carrier contracts, and a label-time ledger if you do not. Audit and spend platforms such as Sifted and Reveel work on your carrier invoices and contracts. GoatLabels has no invoice to audit: it quotes four carriers per parcel and records each label as a dated ledger entry. The table sets the two approaches side by side.

Parcel spend management covers four jobs: choosing the rate for each parcel, recording what was paid, catching corrections after delivery, and allocating the cost to the customer, client, or cost center that caused it. Most teams handle the first job in shipping software and the other three in spreadsheets, weeks later, from carrier invoices.
The later a job happens, the more it costs to do. A rate chosen at the pack station takes a click; the same saving recovered from an invoice takes an audit and a dispute. GoatLabels moves as much of the work as it can to the moment the label is bought.
Parcel spend is harder to control because list rates rise every year and surcharges change separately during the year. FedEx announced a 5.9% general rate increase effective January 4, 2027, its fourth year in a row at that average, as reported by CEP Research on 2026-09-22. Carriers also publish peak and holiday surcharges on their own schedule; Supply Chain Dive covered UPS's higher holiday surcharges for 2026.
An average increase says little about your own lanes, because the mix of zones, weights, and services decides what you actually pay. The practical response is to see all four carriers on every parcel rather than defaulting to one. Which surcharges apply to which parcels is covered on the surcharges explained page.

A prepaid ledger records the cost of each label at the moment it is bought, instead of arriving as a carrier invoice weeks later. On GoatLabels every label debits the quoted amount from a prepaid wallet to a dated ledger entry that carries your reference, so finance sees spend as it happens, one line per parcel.
The wallet is funded by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, or crypto. Because the quote is the debit, there is no gap between the rate the floor chose and the amount finance pays, and the wallet balance is one number to reconcile at month end.
Put the client, customer, or cost center in the label reference, then filter the ledger export by that reference. Every ledger line carries your reference, so cost per account is a filtered export rather than an invoice split.
GoatLabels does not have sub-accounts, separate balances, or per-client logins. If your finance team needs those, choose a tool that has them. For how the resulting lines map to a chart of accounts, see the bookkeeping for shipping costs guide.

You still need to watch corrections, but you do not need to audit a carrier invoice for labels bought on GoatLabels, because those labels have no separate carrier invoice. When a carrier re-weighs or remeasures a parcel, the adjustment is recorded as its own ledger entry against the original label, so you can see exactly what changed.
Why carriers adjust and how to dispute an adjustment are covered on the carrier billing adjustments page. If most of your volume ships on your own negotiated contracts, a parcel audit platform such as the ones in the table above is the right tool for that volume.
Detecting and disputing corrections: carrier billing adjustments, explained.
GoatLabels is the wrong tool if you need to audit invoices from your own carrier accounts, apply negotiated rates, or manage LTL and freight, because it does none of those. It also offers no enterprise SSO, contractual SLAs, sub-accounts, dedicated account manager, or volume-negotiated contract.
Support is by email and the in-app assistant, with no phone line. GoatLabels suits teams that ship parcels on USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL without a carrier contract and want spend recorded label by label on a flat plan.
